As November draws to a close and we start to see the Christmas adverts from of John Lewis, Ikea and M&S flood your social media pages, Christmas lights going up in the streets, carols being played over and over again in stores and the many different types of mince pies you can by which seems to be multiplying every year. This means two things, Christmas is coming whether we are ready or not and the almost impossible choice of what to do for New Year’s Eve. But don’t worry, here at Benedicts Gate and Alumno, we have you covered. From budget ideas to spending the big bucks, we have located some of the best New Year’s Eve parties in the heart of Norwich that will help you bring in 2020 in style.

We know uni life can be tough, especially on a budget, but that shouldn’t stop you from dancing the night away. At Popworld Norwich, dance the night away with the best pop songs from across the decades. Classic cocktails from £4.95 and cocktail shares from £9.95 these will surely keep you on the dance floor. Early bird tickets from £5.00 with the option to upgrade to a VIP booth (£100)

If pop music isn’t really your thing and you prefer a live band with a slight spooky twist then The Brickmakers located on Sprowston Road have a treat for you. The Bloodshake Chorus will be playing live with special guests. Unearthing the classics of the fifties and sixties with a horrific twist, they are sure to keep you up way past midnight. Tickets are from £10.00 with a 10% booking fee.

If you are willing to travel 37 mins outside of Norwich then the Gunton Arms is for you. According to the website this is Norfolk’s wildest party. Live music and Dj’s will be playing all night, with canapes being served throughout the evening. Tickets are £25.00 and selling fast. Now in its 6th year, this celebration is one not to be missed.

Wanting to be a bit more glamour’s like a Parisian in the 1920’s and a bit closer to town? Then how about Bond No. 28 located on Tombland and Queen Street, Norwich. Bond presents a ‘midnight in Paris’ New Year’s Eve soiree. Dress to impress in 20’s glam with DJ Lexus playing from 8pm and drinks and canapes served throughout the evening. Tickets from £20, doors open from 6pm.

If nothing so far has tickled your fancy, how about a 1920’s Gatsby bash to bring in the new 2020 decade? Celebrate in style with a dazzling, high society party with all the razzle-dazzle of the roaring twenties from 9pm to 4am. Party all night long like Gatsby with a resident DJ playing urban hits, dance, house, RnB and the latest music, keep the alcohol flowing with wine, champagne and spirits and even a photo booth. Early bird tickets are £11.25 and VIP tickets from £33.25.

Keeping with the 1920’s theme, our final pick to celebrate the New Year is a Roaring 1920’s 4 course dinner with a cocktail and canape reception. Doan your best fancy dress for a night of champagne, canapes and dancing. Tickets are £54.95 per person, there is also the option of bar tickets from 8pm for £15 pounds.

If a pub close to home is more your style, than the Lamb Inn on Orford Place, NR1 3RU is the place to be. Sponsored by Woodforde’s Brewery, The Lamb Inn is hosting a Gimme Some More Courtyard Party from 7pm. Entry free before 7 and only £4 pounds thereafter. DJ’s Chrome and Lee Jay Hunton will pumping the tunes to keep you going past midnight.

Our final pick (and maybe one of our favourites) is at The Bowling House, located at 5-7 Dereham Road, Norwich, NR2 4HX. also happens to be right across the road from us. They are hosting a F@*k It Dude, Let’s Go Bowling NYE Party! £8 ticket if you book online, £10 at the door, with a free White Russian and bowling for free, dance the night away with Soul, Funk, Disco, 90’s Hip Hop soundtrack mixed with a little dudeness for good measure. 9pm to 2am. Did we mention fancy dress and on the spot shot prizes?

Other highly regarded mentions are The Ten Bells Pub and Arboretum, both located on St. Benedict's Street. No matter what you end up doing, we hope it;'s an amazing night.
